At Three Rivers Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Marked Tree, Arkansas, we believe in providing our elders with experiences that brighten their days and lift their spirits. Recently, we had the pleasure of partnering with our friends at Elite Hospice for a truly special event. They sponsored a fun-filled afternoon featuring Cotton Patch Ponies, who brought an array of adorable farm animals to visit with our elders.
From miniature cows and ponies to goats, chickens, and bunnies, the yard was alive with the cutest and most loving animals you’ve ever seen. The joy on our elders’ faces as they interacted with these animals was truly priceless. Whether they were petting a bunny, holding a chicken, or even taking a pony for a walk, the connection between our elders and the animals was something wonderful to witness.
Animal therapy is known for its ability to improve social, emotional, and cognitive function. There’s something uniquely healing about the interaction between people and animals. The presence of these gentle creatures can reduce stress, promote relaxation, and even enhance social skills and mental health.
At Three Rivers, we always cherish opportunities to bring animals to spend time with our elders. The afternoon with Cotton Patch Ponies was no exception—it was filled with smiles, laughter, and the pure joy that only animals can bring. We’re grateful to Elite Hospice for making this event possible and to Cotton Patch Ponies for their heartwarming visit.
